Reaffirmation Letter

                        MEMBERSHIP REAFFIRMATION – RESPONSE NEEDED

March 10, 2021

Dear Member,

On behalf of the leadership of Fairmount Wesleyan Church, I’d like to express my gratitude and appreciation for your involvement and investment in the life and ministries of the church.  The Lord has put a burden and a responsibility on Fairmount Wesleyan Church to love and reach the communities we are connected to in hopes of bringing the Gospel to all we encounter.

Being a member of the Wesleyan Church is both a wonderful privilege and a role of responsibility.  As a member of Fairmount Wesleyan Church you are choosing to join the mission and vision of the church in proclaiming Jesus to Fairmount and the surrounding communities. In membership, you are able to vote on the church’s yearly budget, church leadership, major church decisions (such as pastoral votes and major facility investments) and the like. With your membership you are also making a commitment to your faithfulness in church attendance (in-person or online), giving of your tithes and offerings, and using your gifts and abilities to serve within the church and within the community you love.

As a current member of Fairmount Wesleyan Church, I am writing you to make you aware that it is time for you to reaffirm your membership for the upcoming church year.

Let me remind you of some specifics related to the membership expectations:
Believe. Belong. Become.  -
  •  Believe: In order to be a member of the Wesleyan Church an individual must confess their faith in Jesus Christ as an inner witness of new birth through the Holy Spirit and express a desire and commitment to pursue holiness in all things.  An individual must also experience Christian baptism in order to become a member.
  • Belong: In order to be a member of the Wesleyan Church an individual must commit to abide by The Articles of Religion, the Elementary Principles, and the authority of The Wesleyan Church in matters of church government. (visit www.fairmountwesleyan.com/churchmembership for a list of The Articles of Religion and the Elementary Principles).
  • Become: Members are asked to make a commitment to live out the mission and vision of The Wesleyan Church through a discipling relationship with the local church.  Becoming a part of the local church includes regular attendance, tithing, and finding a place of service.  For those individuals seeking positional leadership there is a commitment to abiding to the Guides and Helps to Holy Living of the Wesleyan Church (visit www.fairmountwesleyan.com/churchmembership for a list of Guides and Helps to Holy Living).
Discipleship - The intention is for membership to be much more closely linked to discipleship and the spiritual growth process of an individual.
Yearly Reaffirmation - On a yearly basis each member is given an opportunity to recommit their love for the Lord and their loyalty to the relationship with the local church, its mission, its ministry expectations, and for all that The Wesleyan Church stands.  The yearly reaffirmation also provides a proactive annual accountability for each member and their commitments.
  • Some may choose to decline their membership relationship with Fairmount Wesleyan Church for a variety of reasons. We respect this decision. Know that membership can be reestablished following a request and action of the Local Board of Administration.
  • For members who do not respond to the annual reaffirmation process, their membership will be tentatively held in suspension for up to a year until communication can be established. After a year, it will be the church’s understanding that membership renewal is not the intent.

Please know that your membership participation and support of the work of Fairmount Wesleyan Church is greatly valued. Your involvement and voice is also highly respected as we do our best to follow after God’s leading.  If there are areas related to your membership or your spiritual life that are a struggle or areas where you would welcome help, please don’t hesitate to contact the pastoral staff.  Our goal is to help all who are seeking to become more like Christ in their relationship with Him.

Click HERE to access the Annual Membership Reaffirmation form. On this form you'll be able to respond with your desire to affirm your membership relationship, or to decline your membership relationship with Fairmount Wesleyan Church.  Please complete and submit your Membership Reaffirmation to the church office by Sunday, March 21, 2021.

If you have any questions regarding your membership status, the reaffirmation process, or the membership standards of the Wesleyan Church, please feel free to contact the church office at (765) 948-4743.
